A drill helps a lot with assembly- there were no instructions in the box, but if you count the hardware pieces and count the holes drilled in the bed frame, its simple to figure out. I was able to assemble it alone in about an hour.
The bed itself is very attractive and supremely comfortable with a memory foam mattress. I have noticed no squeaking or creaking in the frame.
Ours came with a small ding in the headboard due to careless shipping, but it wasnt enough to bother sending it back.
