Kitchen Center With Natural Finish / Saved by a Toothpick

To begin let me state that we are not new to products. We purchased our first kitchen center, the Kitchen Center with Breakfast Bar with Natural Finish, back in 2012. Receiving and assembling this center was easy, and my husband and I have enjoyed using it all these years. However, as the years have passed we realized that our lone Kitchen Center could not handle all our culinary preparation requirements, and that we needed to expand our prep area and provide space for the many seasonings we use for the creation of our meals. So with love for our Kitchen Center, we naturally purchased the Kitchen Center with Natural Finish and received it yesterday. Here is where the situation gets a little sticky. After receiving this Kitchen Center. The first thing we noticed was that the shipping box and tape was aged, dirty, and deeply marred. The box also had previous shipping and return shipping labels on it that someone attempted to remove but did not quite succeed in doing so. Still , we had purchased a product. So how bad could the problem be with this Kitchen Center that laid before us inside the box. Therefore, knowing reputation for making good quality products, we sat down to assemble it. As with the Kitchen Center all the parts for the Kitchen Center were accounted for and there were no visible damages on the wood sections, and our hopes rose. However, after hours of assembling this new kitchen center, we finally came to the end of the setup and put the drawers in place only to discover that they would not close properly. They would catch slightly below the top lid of the center. We were baffled because in all other respects this Kitchen Center was perfect. Now understand, we are not people who would keep damage products, and with other damaged products that we did return, our first notion was to return this Kitchen Center as it has obviously been returned at least once in the past. However, after mulling over the problem with the drawers and the top of the center, we determined that the flaw was being caused by the right side panel being a hairpin too short in length. To be precise, the length of the right side panel was a rounded toothpick too short. To conclude, although we have the Replacement Parts Centers phone number and email address, this is exactly how we fixed the problem, and this previously rejected Kitchen Center has now found a home. That the right side panel was slightly short in length and that putting a few toothpicks between it and the kitchen centers top would level the center to where the drawers now open and close perfectly did warrant mentioning. UPDATE The nice folks at have read my review and issued us a discount on the Kitchen Center. Thank you, .
