They include a ratchet! I HATE putting together furniture. I was able to carry this upstairs and assemble it in under an hour, without breaking a sweat. I ran into ZERO issues. It looks great and feels very sturdy. Height is perfect for my thick mattress. I don't crawl out of bed nor do I need a pole vault. I'm 5'3
