First let me say I ordered this bed with my sons approval for my grandson. Afterwards my husband started looking into it and reading reviews. A couple of people had complained of the odor of formaldehyde, which is only used in pressed wood or MDF wood so not solid pine as this manufacturer claims. We opened the boxs up out in the garage and unwrapped all the sheet plastic. There was an odor but nothing that would knock you down. We left it out in the garage for a couple of days and no noticable odor. The bed is pretty much solid pine but even the instructions said some pieces were MDF, probably the bookshelf. Now for the good stuff. Our son basically put the bed together by himself. My husband helped hold a couple of pieces at the start but that was basically it. The bed was together in a little over 2 hours. The drawers took him almost that long and the bookshelf was a breeze. All of the predrilled holes seemed to match up well. The drawers gave my son the most trouble if anything did. When put together there is a backing sheet that takes 23 or 28 small nails. You just have to see it to understand but there is little to no room for error or youll split the wood. We just left it off, your not going to be seeing it anyway. The bed is sturdy and if we move the drawers and bookshelf there is room underneath for another bed if he has a sleepover. It can be expanded on. It a great design. Well worth the money. Thats another thing. The bed was listed for $457 but when I went to checkout it came up as $699. We called and that was no help so I kept backing in and out of checkout and finally got a price of $477. I took it. Thats the first time I experienced anything like that from .
