So far we like the futon. Its functions as excepted. The only reason Im not giving it 5 stars is because it had a good size scratch on a visible piece of wood. It was shipped from Indonesia so its not surprising a little damage occurred on its route to the United States however more protective padding probably would have prevented the issue. Otherwise the directions for putting it together are pretty easy and straight forward. It is a two person install. Im not sure what species of hardwood is used, but the futon does feel pretty solid once completely assembled. Barring any scratches i think this futon would meet most peoples expectations.
