I purchased this bed for me and my six year old daughter who share a small room. I didnt want bunk beds because I worried about her climbing up and down , and falling off the top bunk ! Sleeping on top is not an option for me since I weigh 230 pounds. I looked into bunk beds for heavier weights but I was still sceptical to get up there. So I purchased these beds. My daughter is 50 pounds and sleeps on the top bed. I sleep on the bottom bed. We both have 6inch mattresses on our beds. I can fold my comforter and leave my pillow on my bed and it slides under easy. As for the sturdy frame. I will lay on my daughters bed , but I wouldnt stand on it. I believe the weight limit is 250 or 260 I dont remember. If I sit on my daughters bed it squeaks a . So if I do get on her bed I prefer to lay flat. As for my bed it is the same thing but my bed is much closer to the floor. When I am on my bed I am less then an inch from the floor. So it is very low as expected. That is not a problem for me. As long as Im on a matress it still a comfortable bed , just low. Both beds come with sticky two sided tape where you lay the mattress. I guess this is to prevent your matress from moving. I peeled off the tape when I put my daughter matress on. So her matress is basicly stuck to the frame. I did not peel off the tape when I putvon my matress. My matress does move a bit. It does not slide but it will move out of place a bit when I move. I dont mind that. I would imagine if you have an active sleeper like my daughter , pulling off the sticky tape would be best. Over all I am very pleased with this bed. Here comes my one con. The bed seems to be made of steel. So it is very hard. The corners were down right scary to me. I can only imagine my daughter playing and running into the corner of her bed ! I purchased a baby furniture protection set for this bed. I believe this protection set is made for tables. It comes in a long strip that you cut to your size. It also comes with four corner pieces. Which I would imagine are really ment for the corners of tables. I made it work and I got the bed all secured. Now if my daughter ever slips.fallsI dont know. Anythingthe damage will not be as bad. So if you have ones , or if your just clumsy.I suggest getting some type of furniture protection for the sharp corners.
Corners can be dangerous.
