Always nerve racking buying large items that will be pricey to send back. No its not the best mattress known to man but its memory foam which is pretty universally similar. Holds well so far just set time to leave it and let it rise about 1/2 days and maybe open a window. I didnt notice any lingering smells but maybe someone with a more sensitive nose may smell the plastic just let it air out. I was surprised and how it has held up. Very comfy bed and for the price I think its an excellent option. I did not measure the thickness but I would say it can hold a 250 plus person without flattening at pressure points. All in all this is a great buy. Mattress in a box industry has dropped the prices down quite a bit and I would say on a budget this was a great option.
