The bed is made of a sturdy material, and while it's definitely hard, my son insists that it's incredibly comfortable. I've never had to worry about anyone getting hurt on it, so that's a huge plus. My only concern is taking it down when he goes to college because he's already told me that he's taking it with him. But hey, we'll figure it out when the time comes.
