I have so much to say about this. First of all, we LOVE it! As you can see from the photos, this is both dog and child approved (also cat approved, but I didn't have any pictures of those). We all love the look--My mother commented that she didn't even realize the fire was fake!--and the warmth. The first time I turned on the heat, I thought it really wasn't that warm, but when I left the room and came back, I realized how cozy the room was. The heater definitely does its job, though I wish the heat came from the bottom of the fire, rather than from above it. That would literally be my only complaint.
As for set up, it was actually a lot of fun. We made it a family project as you can see from the images. It took us four hours, so do not even try to get started unless you have a decent chunk of time to work on it. I imagine that it is just barely possible to do this by yourself, but it would be hard. Two people is best. And it's an easy set up, just know that there are LOTS of pieces.
Overall, I'm super happy with it.
