I'm using mine as a bedside table, and I've taken off the front door to expose the shelf, which divides the interior into 2 levels. I use wicker baskets filled with my essentials and can easily slide them out and back in. It isn't as tall as I could have hoped - I use a bedside lamp on it for reading. To get the most light, I've raised the lamp with stacked books. A perfect solution for the height. The plugs and usb connections are quite handy. The top looks like wood, however it is a material that resists liquids. All in all, I am quite happy with this purchase!
