Okay, I didn't buy it for the birds, but at least one of them has found the footrest to be comfortable.
My husband likes the footrest very much. It's large enough that he can put both feet up and have room to spare. The height is good, about 9 inches high, and it's sturdy enough for a 150-pound person to sit on it. I won't vouch for additional weight.
The design is fun and the colors are subdued enough to go with any decor, although I wouldn't go so far as to call the colors bland.
The footrest does need to be assembled. The legs come shipped in a pocket on the underside of the seat. Just unzip, take out the legs, and screw them into the corners. It took less than five minutes. I haven't had issues with the legs scratching our wood floor.
