I would like to start by giving a compliment on how the company stitched the instructions to the inside of the tent bag so that we dont lose the instructions. That was genius and I appreciate it. The instructions themselves were great as well. Plenty of pictures and once you study it, its easy to understand.
-Tent setup. This was my first time ever putting up a tent and setup was still fairly easy. The instructions tell you to set it up with 2 people. I definitely advise it (easier and faster) but I was still able to do it all by myself in under an hour. I put a tarp on the ground first to prevent any potential floor damage (as recommended for every tent). I love the ease and the strength of the tent poles. They locked into place almost without any effort at all. It was also really easy to fold back when I was finished. I will agree with quite a bit of the reviews and strongly recommend grabbing different stakes. As with all tents, the stakes are skinny and weak. Thankfully, stakes are inexpensive. I purchased a 6 pack of the 9 inch tent pegs for just $4.99 on and they were incredibly strong.
-Screen Porch. It really does keep bugs out!!!! My kids and I actually watched several bugs (big and small) try to come in. This alone earns some serious cool points from me because while I love nature, I am not a fan of bugs. The screen porch is easy to enter and there is plenty of space. I love the idea and I plan to put chairs and maybe a little table in there.
-Tent interior. I love it! Its spacious and due to the mesh windows, very well ventilated. I love that the windows can be zipped closed if you want privacy. Both the mesh windows and the mesh walls remained bug proof (the bugs certainly tried). Its tall enough to stand in the center and there is a great view of the sky without the rainfly.
-I have not yet tested it in the rain or officially installed the rainfly as it is a bit hot today and perfectly sunny. But I will update this review when I do.
-Cons.
The mesh wall is a popular complaint in the reviews. I think the wall is great because it provides nice ventilation but without the rainfly on, you lose a whole lot of privacy. So if privacy is something you value, do not use this in the summer months. Perfect for spring and fall weather though.
Besides that though, this tent rocks! My husband (who has absolutely refused the notion of camping) was even impressed.
We love it!
