This bed is what we used to call a Captains bed. It took me about an hour and a half to assemble with a screwdriver and hammer. The directions were easy to follow and there are not a lot of pieces, which makes it easy. If you use a power-driven screwdriver or drill, you will probably cut the assembly time to an hour. This is really a very simple and straightforward assembly.
The bed held a 200-pound man just fine, we did put a very comfortable mattress on top. The bed did not shift or give any indication that the weight was a problem. It looks great in our back bedroom.
