The assembly really does take 2-3 hours, but the instructions are relatively interpretable. Two modifications I made: (1) I did not screw in the support beams because I saw on other reviews that it ripped the wood. (2) instead, I went to Home Depot and had them cut me a 3/4 inch plywood to exactly 38 3/4 x 79 3/4. I layed that on top of the frame and tossed my mattress on and it feels as stable as a steel frame bed. So obviously the wood isnt the highest quality but with this small mod I think it resolves most of the complaints out there.
Also note that the drawers only cover half the bed so there is still space behind the drawers if you want to pull them out and store something long-term behind them. I have my workstation desk next to the bed so I put my APC battery backups there and the cord runs nicely through a groove under the head of the bed
Poor build quality but stable with modifications
