When we had our second girl, we knew eventually wed need bunk beds. So weve been keeping our eye out for a year or so, and this one meets all the needs of our 4 year old and 3 year old, with only a couple drawbacks.
Pros
-Easy to assemble. Really, it wasnt that hard. It took me about an hour and a half. I did it mostly on my own though my sister did help me bunk the two beds once I got them together.
-The angle of the ladder makes for much easier climbing. This was one of my greatest concerns about bunk beds with children under the age of 5. We actually were wanting to get ones that had stairs, but those things are cry expensive. This ladder is easy for both of them to go up and down, and weve had no mishaps thus far.
-Sturdy. Very, very, sturdy. My kids arent heavy, but Id say that unless the people who plan to sleep in it are larger adults, this would support just about anyone.
Cons
-The smell! This is seriously my only complaint, but its enough for me to take away a star maybe even two, depending on how much longer it sticks around. It smells awful! The first night I had to turn on a fan, and I diffused some oils in the bedroom, thinking that this would be enough to clear up the scent, however, its been 4 days and it still smells like chemicals. Maybe I just got a bad one, but Ive had a fan on, the windows open, and oils diffusing for the last 4 days, and its still pretty bad in there.
Overall the bed is exactly what we need, and if my son wants a bunk bed when he gets older, Ill buy it again. But if I do, Ill set it up and then go on vacation for a week to get rid of the smell
Update It took about a week for the smell to go, but now it seems to be fine.
A great value, but it really does smell.
