    Lots of Pluses

Bought this for 2 boys - 6 and 4 years old. Mine initially came in 1 box ... I knew it had to come in 2 boxes as I checked the local retailers display. Quick phone call to did not resolve anything. I waited 2-3 days more ... and UPS finally delivered the box #2. Pluses Compact packaging Easy to understand directions Tough sturdy real wood although there is nothing wrong with engineered wood Up to 165 lbs this means this bunk bed can accommodate my kids until they are 13-15, by then anyway, I need to split them up as 2 single twin beds Nice smooth espresso finish. Looks real expensive. Excellent looking single twin beds when separated Extra handrail supports. I have another bunk bed from 2003 from a different manufacturer which did not have these. Sturdy ladder with flat steps Minuses - Some pieces wood were not labeled. - The screw packs were not labeled. - The position of the ladder cannot be moved around. You only have two options - without some modifications. If you are handy, you can change the ladder location - simply drill holes in appropriate locations. - No extra large screws. I always want extras for my other bunk bed. - The support slats are not painted. But for this price, I cannot argue. There is a bunk bed at the local warehouse retailer which sells for $100 more --- the only difference I see are the painted slats. - Wished it was made in America mine was made in Vietnam. Update - The clearance is low between the 2 beds. Our other bunk bed allowed me to sit upright. A child would be able to sit upright though. It took me a total of 2-3 hours to put together. I did take my sweet time as I did not want to make any mistakes. I cannot comment on the paint/finish as far as durability but I did accidentally bang up the posts - and I did not notice any scratches.
