Great Bed - Fairly Easy To Assemble, Nice to Look At
This review may be a bit premature given that my son hasnt had a chance to sleep on the bed yet, so I will update this review if we notice any issues. So far though, I can give my opinion about the assembly and overall design.
Bed style - Queen with storage
Packaging: The bed came in a single (heavy) box to my front door. The parts were packaged with clear labels on everything inside of that shipping box. Everything was neatly organized down to the screws and washers, and nothing was damaged.
Assembly: This bed can be assembled by one person but would go much quicker if you get someone to help you. The most tedious part is installing the slats and building the storage boxes.
Annoyances: The slats must be installed with the bow side facing up, not down. You wont know this by reading the instruction manual, instead they have a sticker on one of the slats with this instruction so if you dont happen to see that particular slat until after youve put in a few incorrectly, youll have to redo those. My other annoyance is with the storage. As others have said, it can look a bit wonky due to it resting on the ground instead of having a track to hang from. That makes it easier to pull in and out of the bed, but it can go in a bit crooked or not go in all the way and have a slight gap. There is a way to lock it in place but Im sure that can become a bit of a hassle every time you have to use the drawer.
Overall impressions: Its a nice-looking bed! My son has laid on it a few times today, but we wont know how it really holds up until he starts to use it regularly. I bought him a hybrid, 12 pocket mattress for this bed that doesnt require a box spring since this is a platform bed with slats. Just make sure the mattress you use is the appropriate size for the bed youre buying (Queen bed = Queen mattress/ Twin bed = Twin mattress, etc).
