I lightly sanded and painted my cabinet and the paint adhered really well. It was easy to assemble mostly by myself; my partner held a couple pieces steady while I lined stuff up, which definitely made it easier, but it would have been doable alone. Feels very sturdy, and I had more than enough wood glue (included) to secure every screw.
