I am 61 and average weight; my husband is 63 and around 240. I cant begin to explain how great it is to have a recliner with a footrest long enough to support my feet, instead of hitting me at the ankle bone. These are really firm chairs, heavy springs that look like they will last, and beautiful fabric. We were not looking for soft, squishy recliners. They have excellent support and are still comfortable to snuggle up in with a fleece blanket for a nap! I had seen issues with assembly in some reviews. Instead of sitting it upright, if you tip the base onto the footrest side, it is easier to slide the back on and you can see what you are doing. We learned that with the first one and the second was a piece of cake! PS.you likely dont want this chair if you are under 510 or so
