Make sure you have a friend to help you. And read directions carefully, dont get ahead of yourself like I did. This bed takes about 4 hours to assemble. The color is a true grey, not the taupe/ish brown color in the main picture and older reviews. Comes in 2 boxes, the main box with all the parts is extremely heavy. The screws and bolts come laid out flat in a blister package. I almost didnt notice them and thought I didnt get any. I took off one star because i hate having to put together furniture with Allen wrenches. My hands are so sore. Probably would have taken half the time if I could use an electric drill. Didnt see anywhere in the description if there is a weight capacity for the mattress alone. My mattress is over 200lbs and the gas struts are able to hold up the mattress. But it is a work out in itself to lift the bed half way up until the struts kick in. I wish there was some kind of safety mechanism, like a latch of some sort, that you can put into place that will give you piece of mind that this bed will not come crashing down on you while youre storing or removing items from underneath the bed. But that being said, there is SO MUCH STORAGE ROOM with the king. I am very happy about that. But I also wish the headboard was a little bit taller. My mattress is 15 in tall and it covers half of the headboard. All in all Im happy with this purchase. I hope that the manufactures take reviews into consideration and improve the design for future customers.
