Ive been looking for a set of bar stools for my kitchen island off and on for a few years now. I finally decided to try this set out to see how Id like it. When it came in the mail (USPS), it was packaged well enough; nothing damaged. After opening and unwrapping the chair parts, (I took pics of the pieces as found in the box) it didnt take long to t the chairs together; less than 10 minutes with simple picture directions. The material is why I like it best, cause I have kids that may spill something on it and I wanted to be able to clean it easily enough. The material also seems durable enough. Doesnt feel like that thin skinned plastic vinyl stuff; more like a material. Its very attractive, too. I took close up pics of the material also. One issue I had so far was since Im OCD, there is a thin plastic film that has to be peeled off after you t the chair together but I cant get all of it off by the seat area. Its in the middle of the back on the black plastic ridge. Its not that big of a deal but if I see it, I want to get it off! Other than that, they are nice chairs. They swivel nice and smoothly. They rise and lower smoothly. I did find out that if you want to lower the chair, you either have to be sitting on it or sh heavy your weight on it. And if you want to raise it, you either have to ll the lever while you are standing on the foot rest or are off the chair all together. As you sit on the chair, it loses about 3 inches of height, for the hydrolic pressure its holding. The other thing I noticed was, the ring on the underside of the base. I thought it was going to be a soft rubber to protect my wood floors from being scratched but it is only a plastic ring attached to the metal base. It seems fine so far, but Ive only had the chairs for a week. They other issue I wasnt sure I liked, was the back of the seat area. I felt like it was uncomfortable to sit on if you sit all the way back in the seat. This wasnt so bad as I got used to it. Overall, the good outweighs the bad for these chairs. I got a pretty good deal for 2 chairs but I think I will still buy the warranty, because I wonder how well they will hold up for the next 3 to 5 years.
