We got this for visiting young nephews and specifically looked for one that would also work for adults for when we have other guests. I am a 42 year/old at 120 pounds. When I climbed the ladder to put the sheets on with no one on the bottom bunk, I noticed there is a definite tip/over hard. All I would have had to do is swing my hips and pull and the whole thing would be pretty easy to tip over. So although Im sure the weight limit is correct, I dont think whoever designed this took climbing the ladder with no one on the bottom bunk into consideration. Additionally, the ladder has round metal poles (instead of flat steps) that hurt your feet when you climb. Will this work for a 7 and 5 year/old? Yes. Would I put an adult guest on the top bunk? Absolutely not.
I would not use this for adults
