Crack straight down the middle. I still put it together because it is so heavy and would be a pain to send back. The crack was only 1/2 way deep but that was a huge let down. You cannot see it at all once put together and its sturdiness is still really great! Otherwise, its beautiful. Easy to read the instructions, took me about 1.5 hours but for someone who is used to putting things together itll prob take 45 mins to a hour. Over all very happy with it.
