This is exactly the type of bed that we were looking for for our 6 year old. Assembly was fairly straight forward (I am quite experienced with putting together this type of furniture). However the bed does not seem all that sturdy -- even our young daughter asked why the bed creaked so much when she moved. We ended up keeping it for only about a year and then we replaced it. Quite unfortunate because we really liked the design and had read so many great reviews.
