We bought the full-over-full to replace an older twin-over-twin and the first things I noticed out of the box were:
1) The quality of packaging. All parts were well protected and there was no damage.
2) The quality of the components. All real wood with a nice finish. The hardware was quality, as well. No stripped screws!
The directions were very simple to follow and all of the components were labeled. One thing I noticed was that the labels were applied on the part facing the same direction as what was in the illustration - it made assembly really straightforward.
The bed took me about 3-1/2 hours to assemble. All you need is a hammer, screwdriver, and Allen wrench (included). The instructions state that this is a 2-person assembly and there were some steps where having a second person would have helped a little bit. The only time you have to have 2 people is when you lift the top bunk onto the bottom one.
Make sure you have plenty of room for assembly. You basically are assembling two full-size beds on the floor before placing one on top of the other. Also, if you are putting the top mattress on by yourself, you can do that before adding the last component (footboard). You'll have to move the mattress a little to add a couple of screws.
The stairs took about 4 hours, but I could have knocked them out in about 3 had I not been tired & hungry. I still have to assemble the drawers, but that should be a quick and easy job.
Once it was place, I was really impressed with the sturdiness of this bed!
Great Bunkbed!
