Im going to start by letting you know, the mattress I had before getting this platform.
It was 23 years old. Had been in storage for a couple of years and was in REALLY bad shape.
I am temporarily disabled and on the larger side - since I cant get out to shop for mattresses I had to rely on customer comment.
After receiving a GENEROUS gift certificate, I came to .
I figured Id buy a new mattress and keep my old box spring.
BAD IDEA. There is a reason people are all buying platforms now and not box springs!
My box spring was as bad as the previous mattress.
While my NEW hybrid gel-foam, spring mattress was far firmer than my old one..the lack of good support underneath left me in bed with my rear end sunken into the bed and my arms and legs up in the air ( think turtle on its back by accident)
I went back to and saw this platform- there werent too many comments, but the ones that were there showed me that I could attach my current headboard and the wood basically matched my bedroom furniture.
I ordered a FULL sized platform to match my mattress. They were out of stock and it took about 3 weeks to get them in, Once in- I received it right away AND at the price I originally was quoted at. ( That made me happy!)
Being temporarily disabled, I couldnt dream of doing it myself. A terrific ANGEL from my Church came to help out and he got it put together in less than an hour...then added the headboard. It looks great.
Very happy with this purchase.
He noted that they supplied not only all of the tools and items you needed, but they even sent EXTRA just in case! All supplies were laid out clearly and easy to find. He remarked how it was a quality product. The very interesting thing is that there were very wide slats ( which were missing on other products I previewed) - and they installed almost like a window blind ( see photo) . No nails needed, teh middle teo slats got tacked onto pegs and that was it!
After the first night.. I can report I am no longer imitating an upside down turtle.
The ONLY disappointing thing is that with the slats and the tape used to keep the mattress in place... it is hard to tuck sheets and blankets under. I guess if you bought the extra long/wide sheets youd have less of a problem. I only have regular sheets. The mattress is only about 5 inches high.
