We actually bought this base because my hound mix was getting older. My girl is 7 this May and our last base was 2 feet off the ground. We noticed her barely being able to make it up and then falling off after failing to make it and limping after getting off. My husband immediately bought this much lower base. We got the 9 version. Our mattress is 8 (an original Purple mattress). We received the correct frame and assembly was incredibly easy. The frame is very sturdy (my husband and I are not small by any stretch of the imagination + two med/large dogs) and perfect for what we wanted. Also noticed our mattress was firmer which is a plus for me, since I have horrible back issues. Even my husband who prefers plush, soft mattresses enjoyed the increased firmness. So happy with this.
