If you are a big person and the circumference of your calves are larger than the maximum calf size they have of 17.9, then these nice waders will not be a good fit for you. I have 19 calves and could not fully pull the boots up. I felt the tight fit at the boots may cut off the blood circulation to my feet and cause much larger problems like a blood clot or feet falling asleep after a long period of wearing them. The waders overall feel well made but the boots are somewhat heavy and may feel like heavy bricks after a long day of fishing. Safety is something I also considered. If you purchase these waders and intend to use them in the ocean surf, then you may want to seriously consider buying a good life jacket in case you suddenly get caught in a rip tide or large sneaker wave while wearing them or any other waders.
Only because of the narrow boot issues Im returning them and sadly didnt get to try them in the water, but I think these are an overall good set of waders for the price. I just wish and other wader manufacturers would consider attaching roomier boots for larger people as a purchase option. From here Ill be considering some neoprene or stocking foot waders which may offer more room at the lower leg area.
