This bed is so sturdy but I bought a 12 mattress and by the time you get throw pillows on there you cant see the headboard so I would recommend a thinner mattress. With no pillows you only see 2 of the boards with a 12 mattress. I wish the headboard was a little higher but other than that perfect bed!
