Assembly was easier than anticipated, but it is a 2 person job due to the large pieces being rather heavy. Only reason I gave it 4 stars is that one of side panel boards was cracked and I'm confident this didn't occur during shipping, so it must have been shipped this way. The crack is just an aesthetic flaw and given the rustic appearance of this bed, it sort of blends in and is not a huge deal. However, it still annoys me that they shipped a damaged bed, so definitely inspect upon delivery.
