This sturdy frame will support your mattress, period!

This frame is solid! The hardware and welds appear strong! I bought this for my 6'4, 260lb son. I've had it up for about a week, and so far so good. The frame not only supports his weight, but another 70lbs of a Savile Row plush mattress (which is also excellent in quality)! I was a little skeptical before ordering, due what another reviewer said about slats cracking. I don't believe that they're made of hardwood, but as long as you aren't using the bed as a wrestling ring, I think they'll last. They are 3¼ inch (long/wide, depending on how you look at it) and ½ inch thick. They have some flex, but probably won't break the way that the weight is over all distributed. I've seen some sites say that the slats should be no more than 2-3 inches apart, and some others 3-4. These slats are placed 4 inches apart, and I will attest that they seem to be supporting the mattress without issue. Plus, I figure I can always get more slats made if it comes to that, but I don't think that it will. If worse comes to worst, you can always put a bunkie board between the frame and the mattress, but, like I said, it seems to be supporting the mattress just fine. The only small criticism that I have is that the actual nuts and bolts could be better labeled, so that they correspond with the diagram on the instructions. I feel that they need to be lettered like the parts of the actual frame. I had to study the bolts and diagram a few minutes to ensure I was putting the long and short bolts where they needed to be. Moreover, the foam coverings on the legs simply don't fit in my opinion. I could only get them to fit on the center support legs. It would have been nice to have foam that slides on the legs without tearing up, but, I'll try not to stub my toes. Overall, I recommend this frame. If anything changes, I will revise my feedback. It's easy to put together, super sturdy, quiet as a mouse, and is thus far a great value! You do not need box springs with this mattress; indeed, the bed would be way too high for most. At fourteen inches high, plus your mattress height, that's plenty of height. 11¾ inch storage containers will clear the frame. I've bought some totally metal frames that failed. This one, even with the wooden slats, seems like it's going to last forever.
