I lost my Mosaic chinchilla (bought from a breeder), due to the plastic corner attachments. He never used to chew on anything but his sticks and pumace stones. After introducing him to his new cage, he began chewing on the plastic corners. It was too late to switch him back to his old cage. He already had the plastic lodged in his digestive tract, and became ill. He died within days of chewing on the plastic. It isnt safe to use plastic for a cage that is marketed for any rodent. My family lost a pet, my autistic son lost his dear friend, and my other chinchilla lost her bonded mate. I would have preferred if the attachments were metal, for the safety of the fur babies that this cage is marketed for. Hopefully, the company will take this into consideration, and make safer parts for our pets.
