It was the hardest bed I have ever put together. It was just a lot of pieces. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. Just a lot of pieces. The side pieces for example, came in 4 pieces that you had to put together to become one. And the wooden boards that go on the side pieces to hold the wooden pieces that support the mattress had to be put on. When normally these are already assembeled. Im assuming it was this way to be able to put everything in one box. But it seems sturdy and overall I'm happy
