My sons room is very small and awkward, and it has seemed that no matter how we arrange it, the bed would always take up too much space. It also didnt fit correctly on any of the available walls. We gave up on the traditional bed we already had for him and decided we needed something that could act as a space-saver, while also being a functional bed.
Thats what this loft bed is, and its such a genius idea! Plus, its an exciting and fun new big bed for our 4 year old.
My husband and I built it together. It took a little bit of time, but nothing out of the ordinary for this type of furniture. It came together beautifully, and we are super happy with how it looks in the space! It fits just right on the wall we wanted it to be on. Its just the right height (for us).
The stair ladder is very sturdy. In fact, the entire bed as a whole is sturdy, and not wobbly at all, even when my son is moving all around on it, as a 4 year old does. I havent heard any creaking, which is sometimes an issue with other furniture.
The wood is painted white and its nice and smooth- no rough edges or snaggy parts that could hurt my son in any way. I didnt see any visible chips or scuffs or stains on the wood. It looks really nice to me and I think it elevates the look of the whole room- it doesnt look as babyish as it did before.
My son has gotten an absolute kick out of this new bed of his! He loves climbing up and getting in- he even arranged all his stuffed animals on the bed the way he wanted them.
It took him a few tries to get used to going up and down the ladder, but he got the hang of it in no time.
I like that the rails are a good height to keep him safe from rolling out of bed, so I dont have to worry.
The best part is all the space you save underneath! As a mom, I love it so much because we have complete available floor space now. We could eventually use it for toy storage or set up a little reading nook area, but for now weve been loving using it as a special fort play area. Im 58 and I can sit under it with him to play without having to hunch over, which would hurt my back. (And I have even used the extra space to sit and sort laundry.)
This loft bed is definitely a game changer for us! I cant wait to start re-decorating his room around it. Well be getting another one for our younger son once hes older.
