I was worried that maybe Id need to purchase a new utility box with a brace, but after doing some research, I found that as long as your ceiling fan is under 35lbs (which this is), you dont need the special ceiling fan box with brace. But I did double check that there was no movement in the existing box in our ceiling. My son helped me install this, handing me tools and dropped screws as I went. It only took about 40min to remove the old light fixture and install this ceiling fan. I found a video on youtube that shows how to install this exact unit. I watched that (it was about 6min) first and installation was a breeze. It looks great and did a wonderful job keeping my room cool last night.
