I bought this bunk bed for my kids 8 and 12 but they are taller, thus weight more than your average. The bunk bed is great, just as expected from reading other reviews. My husband and I started building it then it became a family affair with both kids joining. I love that everything was labeled with letters a and the instructions were pretty clear. The kids have been sleeping on it since and love it. The only issue was the ladder its tough my on my kiddos feet but not a deal breaker taping swim noodles helped. Easy directions.
