    Love this ceiling fan!

This 54 Ceiling Fans with Lights is a replacement for an existing ceiling fan we had on our Lanai. The original fan was purchased because it was rated for use in exterior (but under cover) locations, plus my wife liked the tropical look to it, with the plastic rattan-looking blades. And herein was the main problem with it, those rattan-textured blades apparently disrupted air flow, so even on high speed you any breeze could barely be felt. My wife saw this fan on , and to my amazement (because it didnt look tropical) she suggested that we order it to replace the prior one. I was happy to swap out the units, because among its other attributes I thought it looked very cool: kind of lake an airplanes propeller. The blades themselves are made out of real wood, not just plastic thats made to resemble wood. Not sure what species of wood is used here, but they are extremely light weight yet appear to be very rigid and strong. Another great feature is that it employs a DC motor, which is superior to traditional AC motors in that they are smaller and lighter, they use much less energy to run, they typically have more fan speeds (6 in this model) to choose from than AC models (usually only 3), and they are much quieter than their AC counterparts, which sometimes have a slight hum to them. There is a built-in light which does not need replaceable bulbs, but rather the light uses a LED design which should for all intents and purposes never burn out. Additionally, you can choose the color temperature for the light from the remote control: Cool white, warm white, or a mix of the two. Please note that in the video I attached its really hard to see the differences in color in the light. In real life, the warm white appears much redder than it does in the video, and the mix is a pleasing natural-looking color, and its nice and bright regardless of the color chosen. The included remote control works very well. Once paired with the fan per the simple instructions in the manual, you can control the fan speed, reverse the direction of the fans rotation, set a timer for the fan to turn off after 1, 4, or 8 hours, and set the light color. The remote has separate buttons to turn the light and the fan on and off independently, and the light control does double-duty as the light color selector. There is also a button for engaging Natural Wind mode, which I think periodically varies the fan speed a bit to approximate the ebb and flow of a real breeze. Ive only seen this feature in a fan brand that costs in excess of 5 times more than this one! There is even a button called Simulate a human burglar lamp. I frankly have NO idea what this does. The fan includes all the hardware you need to install it, and everything seems very solid and strong. There are TWO downrods included, a 5 and a 10 so you can choose the one best for your situation. The actual mount used to attach the fan to the ceiling bracket is of the ball and keyed-socket type, which is very easy to work with yet strong and ensures that only the fan shaft will rotate, and not the fan body. The instructions are kind of hard to follow, with poor-quality illustrations and not much information about some of the steps, like how to install the lamp for example. So just be aware that it may take a bit longer to install than you might originally think. My personal recommendation is to have someone help you install the blades. The first two go on relatively easily, but the third is a real bear since the three must be squeezed together tightly in order to be able to align the bolt holes on the fan with the threaded holes on the motor. Having the second person do the holding while you do the mounting would make this ordeal much easier. Regarding the installation of the lamp, here is a tip: You will need to first DISASSEMBLE the assembly (remove the LED plate from the light housing) so that you can install the housing to the mounting plate at the bottom of the fan. There are a ton of holes in the light housing, way more than are needed, which makes matters more confusing. One you locate and install the right holes to use to mount the housing, you need to align the LED plate with the proper holes in the housing. You should probably connect the wiring harness to the plate FIRST, else you way drop the LED plate while fumbling around trying to find the right holes to use. The 3 actual screw holes in the LED plate have a large hole to the right of each one, which you can use to sight through to the rightmost hole in the set of holes in the housing which are above each housing mounting screw. This should closely align the LED plate mounting hole to the proper light housing hole. However, in my case at least the included screws are too short to screw into the mounting plate, because the housing mounting screws act as a spacer, and the LED plate screws are rather short. Maybe I could have gotten the original screws to work but after fiddling with it for a long time I just went to my workshop and got slightly longer screws. Confusing? Without a doubt, but since the manual really doesnt say ANYTHING about this, hopefully this will make sense when you are doing your own installation. Once installed, though, the fan works absolutely wonderfully! Its so quiet, there is no wobbling from unbalanced fan blades because they are so lightweight this isnt a problem, and the light kit is bright. Most importantly for me, you can actually feel the breeze unlike our old unit. Its a really attractive design, in my opinion: sleek and modern yet unobtrusive because of its small size. We love it! So dont let the poor installation instructions deter you: this is a great product whether installed outdoors (under cover) or indoors.
