I made a mistake a few months ago and installed a 42 ceiling fan in our master bedroom. Its a large room, and the fan just wasnt enough to work satisfactorily in the space. When I saw this product, I waffled a bit, and the decided to take a chance. Ive only used recognizable brands for fans in the past (my fans run 24/7/365 and most have been doing so for several years) so I was a bit concerned about trying something outside of the norm. Man, Im glad I did! So far, I LOVE this fan!
The pertinent facts:
+ The body of the fan, or motor housing, is much smaller than I expected. Its a nice matte black finish and fits into our environment with no problem.
+ The blades are indeed wood, although Im not sure what kind. They have a nice grain and are light weight and perfectly balanced.
+ I used the 5 down rod, keeping the fan as close to the ceiling as possible. Using this down rod theres no perceptible shake or shimmy when the fan is running, even at the highest (can you say hurricane?) setting.
+ The lamp is quite bright and can be set to multiple tones (warm, cool, daylight) via the remote.
+ The fan has 6 speeds, plus a wind option, is electronically reversible, has timers, etc., all actuated through the RF remote control.
+ The motor is absolutely silent. Regardless of the speed setting, you hear absolutely no motor noise. At higher speeds you can hear the whoosh of the blades cutting through the air.
+ The fan definitely moves air. Even at the lowest speed, the amount of air flow is noticeable. On high, you need to make sure everything is tied down, let it blow away!
+ The remote control has a significant range, at least double my expectations, and is radio frequency which means that I can incorporate it into my SmartHome controls via the Bond controller. When the Bond is paired to Alexa, you have full voice controls over all of the functions on the remote control.
+ The light and the fan operate independently, although they are powered through the same controller and via the same remote.
My only negatives:
- While well-packaged, the blades had still rubbed together, and two of the three blades had bare wood showing. I grabbed a bit of mahogany wood stain (that I already had) and used a paper towel to touch up those spots and now they are invisible.
- The light kit is a bit challenging to install (the only part of the installation that was challenging at all.) There are three tiny screws that are used to attach the light fixture to the fan, and everything but the screws are black. Its almost impossible to line up the screws and holes without dropping the screws. It took me longer to complete this task than it did to complete the rest of the installation altogether.
Im really happy I took a chance on this fan. It was exactly what we needed, and it outperforms our expectations in all ways. The fact that I was able to clone the remote into the Bond system to make it voice controllable from anywhere in the house is a huge plus as well. Based upon my experience so far, I would definitely order it again and I have no reservations in recommending it to others.
Extremely quiet, yet very powerful!
