For the money, this bed is okay for a smaller child. My 7 year old daughter loves it. It took about 2.5 hours to assemble (1 person). The directions are just pictures that are quite small but the concepts are simple. I anticipate that you would save a lot of time if you had two sets of hands. I am not too sure that it will hold the weight capacity that it claims. After using a square to make sure each bedpost was perpendicular to the floor (I teach math), and tightening all the screws, this bed wobbles when my 51-pound daughter gets in. I am sure its not going to collapse, but it is quite disconcerting knowing that is was assembled properly. Another thing worth mentioning is that although it has a guardrail, if you have a decent size mattress in terms of its thickness, then the guard rail is moot. I am pretty sure it will be fine for the time we plan on keeping it, but I think I know why this bed was fairly inexpensive compared to others.
