I can sit comfortably, finally. Have I died and gone to heaven?
In December of 2019, I spent a little over 100 on a gaming chair on . (To be clear, NOT THIS CHAIR) It was one of the highest rated chairs on the site, had a cute design, a neat bucket seat and just LOOKED plush and comfortable. It was a nightmare and I swore off ever online shopping for a chair again. If I couldnt sit in it, I didnt want to buy it. COVID/19 made sure that wasnt a wise idea for me, someone with health problems already.
I sat and weighed the pros and cons of this chair for over a month, using a crappy chair we had in storage and some lovely memory foam cushions that helped a lot.
See, this chair is almost identical to another brands chair in every way, for literally half the cost. Now, I assumed that with it being half the cost, itd be about half the quality. Having seen the Other Brand in person before, I figured I could safely gamble that half the quality would still be perfectly useable for a few years until I could get something nicer.
What made me decide on this one was ultimately the price, as my roomie (who is basically my brother, best friend and carer, as Im disabled) also needed a chair. We went with this chair because we could basically get two for the same price as one of the more expensive brand. It took less than a week to arrive, my roommate put it together for me while I was asleep, and gave it a try and definitely wants one for himself now.
This chair has, as of sitting in it for about two hours so far, restored my belief in online shopping. I have a lot of chronic pain issues, lumbar lordosis among them, and Im not a tiny woman. At 59 and right around 300lbs, I know Im carrying around twice the weight I should, so any furniture experience is going to be a bit different for me than a more petite person.
It feels sturdy. I feel safe sitting in it. I feel supported, I can tilt the chair back slightly and put my feet up on my foot stool and not have it stretch my muscles awkwardly in ways that leave me unable to stand.
The lumbar pillow is a little thin for me, but I mean, a LITTLE thin. The massage function more than makes up for that minor issue. The head pillow is, by comparison, slightly TOO plush, but Im sure it will settle once Ive used it a bit, and the chair is actually comfortable without said pillow, too.
The seat? I need a bed made of this material. I feel like Im sitting on a very supportive cloud. I cant feel the base of the seat pressing back against my butt. Let me repeat that. I, a 300lb woman with chronic neuropathic pain and health issues, cannot feel the base of the chair through the support cushions, something I have been able to do in almost every piece of furniture Ive used in my adult life.
The arm rests are nicely adjustable, with a pleasant hard plastic exterior that is both sturdy and lightly textured, but is nice to the touch. The arm rest is about an *inch* too low for me, at maximum.I currently have a small pillow sitting on the arm rest for my mouse arm, and its perfect. I also note Im an inch or two shorter than the average target of this product, though, so it makes sense that it would be scaled for someone with longer limbs. I can rest my forearm, but not my elbow, with them fully extended. Ill probably get some little slip cover cushions to make up for that absolutely minor discomfort.
The stitching is excellent, the pieces fit well together and the PU leather feels luxurious rather than cheap and flimsy. I love the detailing, the strategic use of durable fabric in areas that may get bumped or scraped, etc.
I will note, I wish there was a version without the Slayer logo in the middle of the chair on both sides, though the logos embroidery is fantastic. The Fantasy Lab logo is gorgeous, and I would love the stylized dragon rather than the guns and knife design. but it is designed for gamers, and I can see the design appealing to some. I would also love an all/cloth version of this chair as Im not typically a fan of leather or PU leather materials, but this PU leather looks and feels very nice to the touch, and should be easy to clean.
This is honestly the nicest piece of furniture Ive ever owned, and Im not ashamed to admit that because it was, so far, worth every penny. The people who made this chair took their time and paid attention to what they were doing. I expect to get years of use and comfort out of it, however, should that change Ill make sure to update my review. In the mean time, well definitely be getting another chair for my roommate to enjoy with his online tabletop and gaming.
