As we were moving I did not have a rubber mallet handy so used a small hammer to assem0ble. The particle board product did not hold up to the tapping required to connect wood dowel attachments and I damaged the face of headboard. It will require some touch up paint but the dents in the soft particle board still show. It will take some mending with a faux wood bonding product to look perfect again. On the upside, I paid a low price and got free shipping with Prime.
