First off let me respond to a lot of reviews regarding the weight, height, box damage and bed bug issues.
1) Yes, the box is heavy. 125 lbs. But if you think about it, would you rather have a light bed? No, you want a sturdy bed that will last you a long time. If you are concerned with the weight, get a friend to help you out. I am a 165 lb. man, and I had no problem sliding the box across my floor and putting it together myself in 90 minutes.
2) The height of the bed is not that high. However, I have a 12 Dynasty foam mattress with pillows on it, and it still looks great. It really looks like a retro bed the way it sits low, with a lower headboard.
3) It did indeed arrive with a damaged box. Of course it was UPS fault which is not surprising in the least. However, this product was packed with the box in a box method. This means that the outer box was punctured, but the inner box was not. Great idea for packing.
4) Bed bugs. No, it did not have bed bugs. Cmon, it came in a factory sealed bag. I find it hard to believe that they would have bed bugs in the manufacturing plant or the packaging area. I tend to think that perhaps the bugs were already present when the bed arrived.
All of this being said I love the bed!
1) Super easy to put together.
2) Ingenious Velcro placed on the side of the frame and on the wooden slats. Makes it simple to put these on.
3) Comes with all of the necessary bolts, and some are already half installed on the bed. All you have to do is unscrew them a bit, fit the piece inside, and screw them back in. They even came with spare bolts and a ratcheting allen wrench! Very nice.
4) Has a storage compartment in the back of the headboard that fits a spare blanket, or a pillow or two.
5) Sturdy and quiet. I can finally get out of bed without waking my wife due to the lack of springs.
I would definitely recommend this bed to anyone looking for a very nice headboard and frame. Even if youre not looking to buy a budget frame! Very nice.
