Bought this for when our preschool age grandson/s spend the night. I dont know how well it would hold up for a heavy adult but for our purposes it seems plenty sturdy. It wasnt difficult for me to put together, the little plastic pieces that keep the bars in place were tedious for old hands but none of it was difficult. The headboard does NOT look like wood. It looks like plastic / resin ( albeit very sturdy ) with a wood grain printed on it. This didnt bother me as I was painting it to look like an antique nautical sign to match wallpaper. If you are hoping for a more realistic wood look this isnt the bed for you, but otherwise, for the price, its pretty nice.
