The fabric feels like cotton but looks like denim when you get really close to it. Really nice design, and assembly wasnt so hard. All of the pieces to build the bed are stored inside the headboard, so once the bed is built, you have a large hidden compartment in the headboard that zippers closed. I got my mattress from mattress firm, but a lot of the foam mattresses on here have really good reviews (and have low low prices).
