You will need two people to help assemble this wine bar. Make no mistake this is made of solid wood. There is no cheap partical board. The oak is stained like the rest of my furniture from the mid-west. Ready made furniture of this caliber was quoted to me at $1800. With the Stainless top we have had compliments from our guest.
This is probably one of the nicest pieces of furniture, in the class of boxed, assembly required type that we have ever purchased. It is truly a beautiful, well designed and engineered, sturdy, and worth the time and money item. However, that being written, the assembly, of this dude, is not for the mechanically, spatially, or reading challenged. Its also definitely not a one person assembly project. Thats not to say, you have to be tool belt hero, but you have to carefully read the instructions, be able to visualize along with the illustrations, the left and right side facings on the parts, and be able to do some on the spot fitting adjustments. And you need a second person to help hold a lot of things in place while you tighten the fasteners. When you get everything its its proper place and tightened is a sturdy and beautiful piece. Packaging-wise, there are multiple packages- three to be exact - that you should receive - two large (and heavy) that contain the cabinet components, and a smaller flat one with the counter top (we opted for the metal one and we highly recommend it for looks, style, and durability). Cant say enough, about the packaging in terms of the packing boxes, the internal foam packing and the way it was all secured. It was excellent. If you decide to purchase this, and your experience with delivery and assembly is the same as ours, youre gonna like the results. Im not going to quote any time to assemble expectations as theres just too much variability in experience and skill set amongst folks. But, it aint a fifteen minute job, people, so plan accordingly. Comes in three packages. Takes about 3 hours for one person to put together. It's not particle board but good solid wood. It's very sturdy and it's a great value for the price. My only complaint is that a couple holes for the shelving weren't drilled well but I just drilled it myself
The Buffet was delivered in 2 boxes. It was fairly easy to put together, I'm not the handies person, and it took me probably 4 hours total, but I also had my 2 girls helping... The buffet looks great! It matches my Oak table and chairs perfectly! I love it!
My husband put it together. It took a few hours but it was not difficult or frustrating. It looks really nice and is exactly what I wanted. The only thing is, it's a lot lighter than the picture.
The good news:
- This looks fantastic and is perfect for holding wine, accessories, glasses, whatever you need. I have received many compliments on it and I'm very happy with its appearance.
- The unit is very sturdy and made of solid material.
- They give you an extra of each kind of screw just in case.
The bad news:
- I pride myself on being good at putting together furniture and this thing was a BEAST to build. The instructions are not paced well and have multiple steps squished together into one step. I did most of it by myself but I needed my husband to hold some of the bigger, heavier pieces in place while I secured screws.
- The screws and locknuts are poor quality. I had one locknut break as I tightened it and nearly all of the screws were stripped by the time I got them all the way in.
- The space for the drawer on the left is a little too tight and the drawer needs some force to move in and out.
- The space for the drawer on the right was too small for the drawer to fit at all. I double checked and I had definitely constructed the unit correctly as all the dowels were in place and everything else was lined up as it should be. This drawer space was just about a centimeter too narrow. I actually had to deconstruct the drawer and take a saw to the back and internal front pieces and narrow it, then screw it back together to make it fit. It works great now and you can't tell that I made any changes, but what a pain in the butt.
Overall:
- If you have the patience and determination to force this thing together it's a great piece of furniture and a reasonable price, but be prepared for a heck of a chore.
This is a beautiful piece. I had one damaged piece and it was replaced with no hassle. Assembly was not difficult (I'm over 50 female). I've had many, many compliments on the buffet/hutch.
i agree with the first review-came in 2 boxes, not that hard to assemble but there are many pieces.
Quality is EXCELLENT as is the final product and all the pieces fit together perfectly.
I would definitely recommend it. The wood is solid, not pressed board and the finished product looks like its worth at least $1000.
A power screwdriver is helpful and you may need a helper to hold things but its not hard.
For a wonderful piece that takes a little time -BUY IT- you save hundreds for a little time and one screwdriver.
It was a little complicated to put together. It'll be a lot easier if you have two people working together to construct it. We've been very happy with the finished product. It's nice and solid, made of good material. The drawers stay on their tracks and the doors are even. You wouldn't know it was a mail-order item by looking at it.
