Husband had an easy time putting this together and it has been a great addition to our little girls room for extra storage and a play space on top. Nice fit.
I really like this bench. It suits our needs/ its sturdy, the storage cubes are large enough for shoes and boots and it can hold me and my kiddos at the same time if needed to. The only thing keeping it from being a 5 star is that the hardware it comes with is absolute crap. The top lip that is supposed to be installed underneath the bench portion of this is completely useless to us now because the hardware that was supposed to fit it was shotty and broke all four pieces broke before I could even begin hammering them into the bench. They broke while I was simply trying to screw them into their holes! Because they were PLASTIC. They really need to upgrade their hardware for this bench. Adorable,
The bench was very easy to put together. The quality is also very good and the price cant be beat. I purchased both the bench and the wall unit with hangers and they look great together on the wall since I dont have an entry way closet. Very happy with the bench! Get it!!

I bought this and the shelf to go with it. They are both being used in my kitchen as a drop off point after coming inside. Only thing I dont love is the bench tends to tip forward when sitting on the edge. I have small children and was concered about it tipping over on them but it has been a problem at all. Very sturdy.
This bench is very sturdy.unfortunately when we put it together the screws were too long and damaged the top. The supplier quickly shipped me a new top and the correct screws so it was excellant customer service. The finish will probably not wear as well as wood but for the price it is a nice product! Cool!!

However, the back piece is unfinished, which you can see from the top and the sides since the blond, unfinished back board is not recessed or flush after it is screwed on.
I had wanted to put this bench along one end of a couch, like an end table, but the unfinished back that showed on the top and sides was an eyesore. I had to relocate it and place it against a wall.
Also, although I figured this out long before I ordered it, I think its worth mentioning that the bench does not come with the baskets pictured. Bought this for Christmas!! Still love it.
After pricing solid wood benches for my mudroom and suffering sticker/whiplash, I decided to bend my standards and go for the pressboard stuff (it is, after all, only a mudroom). Although this cubby /is/ pressboard and I am well aware its not going to hold up for three generations like the solid wood furniture I usually buy, I must say I am pleased with this purchase. The cubby is extremely attractive and its not readily apparant its not real wood. The directions to put it together were nice and clear and it went together in perhaps 40 minutes (including time to go dig out two screwdrivers and a hammar). It fits perfectly where I needed it to go and the seat is just the right height for an adult to sit on without scrunching down, but not so high that my kids cant sit on it. The kids boots fit easily in the three s. I can fit a pair of snow boots and a pair of rain boots in each cube.
Why not 5 stars? Its pressboard and the same fastening techniques which made it such a pleasure to quickly put together will also make it vulnerable. Im a wood snob. Perhaps Im being unfair for not giving it that 5th star as it is exactly what I purchased, but I foresee, like all pressboard products, that this product will solve a problem for a set period of time before it gets banged up. Especially if subjected to the kind of prolonged abuse children tend to dish out on items that can be climbed/sat upon such as this. Unlike real wood, once pressboard starts to fall apart, its history. You cant simply use a bigger screw and a bit of wood glue to cobble it back together and refinish it. Especially this particular kind of pressboard, which is more porous than medium density fiberboard. However, this cubby was 1/4 the price of a wooden one. I feel I got exactly what I paid for and I am happy with my purchase.
My only real complaint is that the decorative trim at the very bottom only has screws at both ends (to help hold the sides together, I presume) but no pegs in the middle as the other pieces have. If you kick the kick/trim, it moves inward. Having 2/3 additional pegs in the middle would add a bit more structural integregrity not only to prevent that, but also add a bit more strength to the overall design.
If you dont mind pressboard and want an attractive, functional storage cubby to solve a problem for the 5/7 years I anticipate this product will last, I highly recommend it. It looks every bit as nice as the 400 wooden one I priced at one of the name/brand furniture stores. Amortized over the anticipated lifespan, it is money well spent. It looks mighty nice in my mudroom and nobody would ever know I cheaped out unless they pull it out and look at the back of it. It was perfect!
This is a nice bench and it organizes our three kids shoes perfectly. It looks nice and holds good sized baskets underneath to put the shoes in. For the kids sitting on it to tie their shoes, it does the job. However, if I sit on it, it holds me but I notice that the upper decoritive piece under the bench seat separates from the bench surface while I am sitting. When I get back up, it bends back into place with no damage. So as of right now it is only an annoyance.
Okay I know you are dying to find out how BIG I am. I am currently 64 and 228 pounds. So I am a bigger guy. I dont think this furniture was meant for me to use and we bought it for our kids. I plan on staying off of it. I just thought it might be important to know in case you were planning on buying it for adult use. I will probably add some wood glue to that piece so that it stays attached to the underside of the bench if a larger guest happens to sit on it. (There is NO concerns with this unit breaking, it is very sturdy. This piece that moves is only decorative.) Very cute.
This is just what I had been looking for for my entryway. It looks great it was really easy to put together. It did take a while for it to arrive, but it was also a large item it was heavy. Be aware that the baskets in the picture do not come with the item. I knew this, but just an FYI. Love it.

nice sturdy bench
