We bought this bed for our boys in hopes that when they were over the same room stage, we would have 2 good sized beds for them to use. I am SO glad that we bought this bed!! The entire time we were assembling it, we were nervous that this was going to be horrible/ there are a large number of people who posted reviews claiming that this is flimsy and poorly made. We do not feel that is the case AT ALL. I have no concerns about getting into the top bunk to cuddle or change sheets and am not worried about our young boys crawling up into it.
The top bunk isnt nearly as tall as I thought it was going to be (I was thinking dorm room loft!!) and with a 7 inch mattress from IKEA, there is just enough rail around the top to make me sleep soundly knowing that they wont fall out! The 2 things that I wish I could change would be 1.) the beds arent exactly the same. The top bunk has a significantly shorter head and foot board. It is okay, unless youd like to have 2 matching beds at some point. 2.) there is VERY little head room on the bottom bunk. were talking my 2 year old smashes his head multiple times a day. I can understand this being a limited amount of head room for an adult, but really/ a TODDLER shouldnt be smashing his head!
Overall, I would buy this bed again. Not only is it a good size, but it is a good price and feels really sturdy! Better then I thought
Very well made, one year strong since I bought this bunk bed! Very happy with it, no problems so far. I was able to build it alone at 8 months pregnant with twins. Did not disappoint
Go to any furniture store, and you will spend at least double the price for this bed. Of course, this extra money is because the bed youre now buying will be delivered and put together. However, if youre handy EVEN IN THE SLIGHTEST, you can put this bed together by yourself.
The bed arrived in 3 50lb boxes, all meticulously flat/packed. There was not too much styrofoam, as I was expecting, and everything was easy to unpack. Each piece is given a number, and it corresponds to the directions, which were easy enough to read and understand. Every piece was used, and in the end, the bed is holding up great.
Now to answer some common questions about home assembly.You do NOT need power tools to put this bed together. I used only the allen wrench which came with it, and a phillips screwdriver. Thats not to say a power drill wouldnt have helped, so if you have one, congrats, but its not essential. You will be able to get the screws in yourself without one just fine, as the screws are all self/tapping and the wood is just manufactured press board, not solid oak.
You dont need a second person, although it would help in the step where you lift the top bunk to rest on top of the bottom bunk. This was the only part that was kind of tricky, but the unit is so light (not to the point of being flimsy) you can lift it yourself.
The bed is sturdy. I am 190lbs, and have used both bunks as well as the ladder, and have done so with normal force and weight applied, all with no creaks or cracks or sounds of stress to be heard. I will admit to not having jumped on it, nor performing the peoples elbow upon it however.
To conclude, you will be happy with this bed, and be able to assemble it if you have any kind of sense. Mine looks great, and I couldnt be happier. The money I saved on it allowed me to get even nicer mattresses and bedspreads for it. You wont regret it!
My son is 5 and loves his new bed! Last night was his first night in it and he slept through the night! Delivery was a bit challenging. I only received 2 of the 3 boxes but after speaking with the company the 3rd box was sent. The instructions are only pictures and numbers. It took a few hours to put it together and we had to purchase a few extra screws that were missing. With all that said, it is a beautiful and sturdy bed that should last a long time. It is a full over full and can be taken apart and used as 2 beds. Im 58 and have plenty of room. The mattress size says no more than 9 inches due to side rail for top bunk. But the one we used is 9 1/2 inches and its more than fine. Also, to make it more study for adults, we added 3/4 inch plywood under the mattresses. The bed is well worth the price and I found the company to be easy to work with. Even with delivery issues we were able to email and speak over the phone to correct the problem. I highly recommend this bed! Pay attention to the pictures!
Bed is awesome, true to size and the kids a super happy. The assembly instructions should come with better labels to identify R vs. L side of the bedother than that, very happy with the product. Love it
