I was bit skeptical with this buy until it arrived. Its a huge box and very well packaged. I liked the the thought that the packings does not have styrofoam. The unpacking is easy enough and assembly is as well pretty easy. My kids were helping me unpacking and assembly. Hence I would say the assembly is easy enough to identify the parts and have them put in right place. Only help I needed from another adult was to hold the tall columns standing until I screw them tight.
The size is decent and its sturdy enough to hold 70 LB boy on top bunk and another 45 LBS in lower full size. My wife occasionally sleep on the lower bunk with the younger one. The structure is strong enough to hold the weight. I have not heard any squeaking in the month of usage. One good part is that the lower bunk is high enough to slide down 4 full size bags underneath without anyone recognizing it.
Cons
The accessibility to the far edges of top bunk while changing the sheets. I am taking down the whole mattress, pin down the sheet and then put it back, its way too easy than trying to reach far edges.
The lower bunk feel bit large than the full size. The mattress fits loosely and we need to adjust it every now and then.
Overall, great buy, couldnt expect more for the price tag!!
It definitely took both my husband and I to build it. I wouldnt recommend for anyone trying to do a fast set up. Other than that we love it. Its great having a sitting area in the kids room
Overall, this is a very good bunk over futon option. It is well built. Very sturdy and I am extremely happy with the purchase. There is a negative side though. The instructions, in my opinion, were lacking major details and information, which caused me to spend 6 hours working on putting this together.
I highly recommend that you plan this out. Open and inspect all the parts. Read through all the directions (all 18 steps) FIRST. Its very important for you to understand what is the top of a piece and what is the bottom. What is the front and what is the back. The instructions dont go over that part. And since many of the parts are interchangeable (in their appearance) and look the same upright as they do upside down . . I found myself very frustated in the end. As I had to dismantle several pieces that I had gotten wrong.
I think if I was a bit more organized going into this, and understood that this could be an issue, I would have been more careful in the build. All in all, I got the job done. I did not give up. 6 hours later (no joke!!!) I had my bunk put together.
My 13 year old son always has friends over. So I thought a bed like this would be a great addition for sofa use and then quick sleepovers.
The setup took 3 hours with my husband and myself. The directions seem confusing at first, but that was because my husband removed items. I like to sort them out and familiarize myself with the items before I begin. When I read the directions, everything went flawless.
We used our drill which made quick work of things, but again it took between 2/3 hours.
It is seats 3 people comfortably with no creaking. My son loves it! So its a win!
Before I begin you need to know Im really good at assembling furniture/ so good that Im on speed dial in my friend group to come and bail them out or to just take over from the beginning. This assembly was not really complicated but will take 2 people and *a few* hours. You will also need to know a copy things. There is a COMPLETELY MISSING STEP which will leave you scratching your head and whats really spooky is that it should be part of Step 13. By the time you have gotten there you will have the back & seat of the futon constructed. and will have attached the springs. See Photo #1 for what the spring attachment looks like/ they have a L or R stamped on them and the frame sits on top for construction. /
After that The directions fail to tell you that you will then attach the futon back/seat to the frame. You will do with with #9 Screws and #3 bolts./ If you do everything in order they will be the only pieces left. This will be a tiny bit tricky and you might want to set the whole thing on milk carton or have an 2 other people hold it while you install. Its also tricky b/c one of the bolts sits under the spring and you need to very careful about pulling on that spring to get to it.
///One more caution// in step 1 you will be constructing top and bottom of the frame. The bottom [Part I} is a solid rectangle/ be sure the welded part/ i looks like picture frame / is INSIDE and that the two holes are on the bottom of that piece on both sides when installed. Photo #2
And lastly/ there is a piece labeled U that is a heavy duty C clamp / ONLY install it if you want to use the bottom as a futon couch and never plan to convert it to a bed / you will not be able to convert it if these things are installed. Photo 3
All in all this is a nice sturdy piece. You will want to supervise the conversion from futon to bed and back as the catch is a pin with a heavy clip and could easily take a small finger off. The good news is it is also very sturdy and would be hard for a child to operate so unlikely to them to do it on accident.
First of all, I can get the frame sent, but the futon mattress says it cannot be delivered to my address. (Same & billing address )
Secondly the frame will start making squeaky noises when the bolts needs to be tighten. So every time it does we retighten the bolts. (Uses Allen wrench which comes with the package.) Yet it is working for my family.
The frame is great. The instructions said it would take 2 adults 45 min to assemble. It took more like 2.5 to 3 hrs. There are over 200 hundred plastic pieces that need to be attached after the main frame assembly is done. Be prepared to spend lots of time.
?The product is wonderful. Beautiful, very sturdy, the price was ok too. But the UPS delivery was rubbish. They took a while to deliver, and at the end when we got it delivered. The delivery man left the package in the apartment lobby and left. He didnt even get in touch to say he wouldnt go up. But he was paid for it.

You will want to read the missing directions.

Good value
Its a great height. Tall but not too tall for an apartment with low ceilings. Its everything that I expected.
2/3 hr project
