This item looks like the seat slat area is tightly put together, but there is actually 1/2 inch spacing between boards. It will work for a chair, but if you have young children I could see them getting fingers stuck between them and getting hurt. Not a bad product, but the pictures are deceiving expect spaces between the seat boards.

Below is my original review that I left in December, 2015. However, I had to change both the rating and the review to reflect a recent occurrence. A few weeks ago I was hosting a bridal shower for my sister. This was my third event using these minimally uses chairs. About 10-15 minutes after everyone had been seated and eating, a chair broke under a slightly heavier young woman. It caused her to have a back spasm and of course, a lot of embarrassment. I quickly retrieved her a dining room chair, and hoped she wouldn't let this occurrence ruin her day and time here. I'm changing the 5 star review to a 3 star based on this, and the reason I'm not changing it to a 1 star is because I have 15 more chairs of this group that I have had no issue with.
I ordered 4 sets of these chairs and they all arrived nicely packed and completely free of any issues! They are sturdy and very durable. I've used them for quite a few parties, which included baby seats being strapped to them and various sizes and weights of people, they did their job without any problems! Such a great price for actual wood, too.
The wood seems solid and the chairs appear sturdy. These were ordered to supplement similar folding wood slat chairs bought a few years ago from Sears. The ones from are almost a perfect match. The chairs from cost more, but shipping was included.
Hard to find old style folding wooden chairs. These were used in play set in the 30's and were perfect. We didn't need to do anything to them except pull them out of the box and protective wrapping and remove the sticker. Packaging was great. They arrived in perfect condition. Was a great deal that I was pleased with after searching for quite a while.
