Im very pleased with this shelf unit. I wanted something for house plants near a picture window and this fills the bill perfectly. Assembly couldnt be easier (about 10 minutes, no tools, 1 person), and the result looks good.
I wouldnt put anything particularly heavy on this: while its fairly stable, it doesnt seem that strong. But its perfect for plants and tchotchkes. But it looks great near my window and lets the light through for the plants.
Had plants that were annuals, but did not want them to die so I got the shelf and brought them inside. It works and looks awesome in the window. We bought another couple shelves of different sizes that are also glass and they are great.
I bought this assuming it was purely metal and glass construction (based on the description of the product). But once unpacked, I was a bit disappointed in the quality of the materials used. First, the stainless steel tubes are not really tubes at all. They are pieces of stainless sheet metal rol into the shape of a tube. There is a clearly visible seam that runs the length of each tube. Second, there are plastic inserts that go into the ends of each tube. These plastic inserts are threaded so that you are able to screw the tubes together during assembly. Even the chrome buttons shown on the top piece of glass are nothing more than more plastic parts that screw into the tubes below the glass. Had I known these details about the product before/hand, I probably would not have purchased it.
